Insert Link (Extended)

Introduction

URL’s can be referenced in two ways; via absolute Internet links (http://www.sausagetools.com) or by relative links (art/elise.HTML). Relative links are used for linking to other documents that form part of your Website. Absolute links are used to link to documents that are elsewhere on the Internet (a link to Sausage Software for example). If you are new to HTML, use the Insert Link Wizard for a step-by-step guide on how to create links in your document.

Inserting a Link into your Document.

1. On the Insert menu, click ‘HyperLink’.

2. Do one of the following:

• To enter an absolute Internet link type a URL into the URL box in the Insert Link dialog box.

• To enter a relative link click and using the file picker select the file you want the link to point to.

• To link to a Target (Internal Anchor), select the Target name from the Named Target List.

• To open the link in a frame window, enter the name of the Frame Target in the Frame Target box.

NOTE

To insert relative links into a HotDog document, your document must be saved. If you are using frames you can also specify in which frame you want the URL to open, using the Frame Target box. If you want to create other links (to Gopher or an e-mail link for example), use the Link Wizard. Click the button in the ‘Insert Link’ dialog.
